at Google, recently announced that real-time New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) data could be made available for free at Google. Go, data, go.
This could create interesting uses for Swivel. For example, when the iPhone was launched earlier this week many bloggers were posting graphs about the minute-by-minute change in stock prices for Apple and its newly found mobile phone competitors. We tried to find the data online to upload into Swivel. We looked at Yahoo finance, which is a great source for data because it allows us to download CSV files, but unfortunately the finance data is at a daily granularity whereas we needed minute-by-minute data.
This announcement is great news because it means we could get access to more granular data. We hope the SEC proposal gets approved and that Google allows CSV downloads of the real time data once it is available.
